Defendant Lau Si Wai (27 years old), was convicted of one count of possession of a tool fit for an unlawful purpose and two counts of theft. Magistrate Liang Yaxin revealed at the time of sentencing that the probation officer reported that the defendant had regretted it, but he was convicted after trial. His remorse came too late and his help was limited. Considering that the six-pointed key found on the defendant was still in the package, it was accepted that he should not have any. However, he later changed his tune and said that after finding it, he planned to leave PolyU and hand it over to the police.
