Are you planning a cruise trip for the first time?

An insider revealed online where guests are wasting their money unnecessarily – not everyone will like the answer.

Almost every luxury that vacationers can think of can be enjoyed on a cruise ship.

Especially those who are planning a trip on a steamer* for the first time are probably overwhelmed by the offer.

So what should you really pay attention to when booking and what can you safely do without?

A user answered this question on the online discussion platform Reddit.

According to his own statements, he used to work for one of the largest tour operators - presumably in America.

Cruise vacation: Travelers can do without it – according to insiders

"

What do you think is something that people are wasting money on and shouldn't be doing, or that just isn't worth it?"

The user "FloatInABoat4" asked this question to the travel insider, who offered his knowledge on Reddit under the username "ThePowerWithInUs".

According to the self-proclaimed expert, cruise travelers will probably not be happy about the answer.

In his opinion, they are

balcony cabins

who are unjustly popular.

"Most people want a balcony so they don't get stuck on the ship in the event of a Corona outbreak, but most people spend less than 15 minutes a day on the balcony.

Most of the time is spent on the ship and in the port.

If you want a balcony then get it, but if you can live with an inside cabin then book that one.”

Also interesting

: Never carelessly throw away your ticket after the cruise.

A user also points out that people who test positive for Covid-19 will probably be taken to a

quarantine zone on the ship

anyway – so a balcony cabin will do them no good.

The cruise insider agrees: "But keep in mind the Diamond Princess in March 2020."

The cruise ship was idle for two weeks at the Yokohoma pier because the Japanese health authorities imposed a quarantine after being notified of a corona case on board.

Reports from passengers made the rounds on social media, telling of the chaotic situation on board.

Balcony cabin on the cruise ship - users point out advantages

Although the cruise insider advises against a balcony cabin, it does have its advantages, as some users note.

As “Quellman” writes: “It depends.

Glad it works for you.

For a

family with a child

napping, a balcony is a lifesaver.

I can spend time out there reading a book instead of being locked in the room watching a small subtitled TV.

As a travel agent, it is important to understand the needs and desires of customers.

I agree that many people don't need them as they are never in the room."

Another user points out that a balcony is

worth the money , especially on

routes with beautiful views , for example in Alaska or Norway.

Ultimately, it is up to the vacationer to decide whether to invest in a balcony cabin or not.
