After years of anticipation, doubts and questions and quite a few rumors popping up on the net this is finally happening: Rockstar is releasing an official statement about GTA 6. The company has released a statement on its Twitter page informing fans that the sixth title in the mythological series is “on the way”.
"Many of you are asking about a new title in the GTA series. Our goal is always to move beyond what we have already provided in the past, and we are happy to inform you that the game development process is underway. We look forward to sharing more information as soon as we are ready."
Beyond the statement no further details were given, and this is the first time Rockstar has officially commented on the project.
The network has been filled with rumors over the past few years and quite a few dates have been thrown into the air as time just goes by.
And currently Rockstar is not committing to the launch date, so the options are open.

Fans have been thirsty for years for a new title in the series, but Rockstar has found massive success in the online mode of GTA V since it was released almost a decade ago, and the company continues to milk it.
It was originally released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 console generation, and has since been re-released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well, while Rockstar plans to release it for the new generation of consoles as well.
The last big game Rockstar released was Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. In November 2021 it launched the remakes of the GTA trilogy, but it received negative reviews from players and critics who complained about bugs, glitches and poor quality not respecting the original series.
In February 2020, Dan Hauser left the company, who was one of the creators of the GTA series and the original founders of Rockstar along with his brother Sam.
Dan was also one of the most important and influential people at Rockstar who helped write and oversee all of the company’s titles over the years.
A few months later he also left the company for Azlo Jones, who wrote and produced the series' various radio stations over the years.
The one who remains involved in the development of GTA 6 is Sam Hauser, but these are still two very big key characters who helped shape and give Rockstar their unique identity, and there is no doubt that their lack will be felt in one way or another in the next game.
