The traffic light government is struggling with the corona situation, the vaccination debate and the Ukraine crisis.

In the ARD "Germany trend" the new leadership has to give up feathers.

The Union is growing properly.

Berlin - 2021 was a historic year for the SPD.

Olaf Scholz is the first SPD member to sit in the Federal Chancellery since 2005.

2022 also got off to a promising start for the Social Democrats, despite the Omicron confusion and flood of walkers.

In mid-January, the Chancellor even achieved amazing poll numbers in the Union camp.

Now the tide is turning.

In the current ARD “Germany trend”, the Union is gaining favor with the voters over the SPD.

This has not been seen in the Sunday question for a long time: If there were federal elections next Sunday, the SPD would come to 22 percent according to the Infratest dimap survey published on Thursday (February 3).

Compared to the previous “Germany trend”, this is a minus of a whopping four percentage points.

"Germany trend": Union overtakes SPD for the first time since August 2021 in the Sunday question

For the first time since August last year, the Social Democrats are behind the CDU and CSU coalition with 22 percent in the “Sunday question”.

The sister parties increased by four points compared to the previous month - and now come to 27 percent.

A point behind the SPD has become a 4-point lead.

That did not come as a complete surprise: at the beginning of the month, the Union had already overtaken the SPD in a Forsa survey.

The Greens remain in the current ARD "Germany trend" at 16 percent, the Left are unchanged at five percent.

The FDP lost one point to 10 percent, the AfD gained one point to 12 percent.

New ministers lose in the current "Germany trend" - especially Chancellor Scholz

Not only SPD and FDP had to lose feathers in the current “Germany trend”;

The new government is also losing some of its voters at personal level.

At the beginning of the year, a clear majority (60 percent) was still satisfied with Chancellor Scholz's work - now only 43 percent.

FDP Finance Minister Christian Lindner is also losing ground.

With a monthly minus of 6 percentage points, he now comes to 43 percent satisfaction, just like Scholz.

What are the Greens doing?

Economics Minister Robert Habeck and Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock rank at 39 and 36 percent satisfaction.

Compared to the previous month, they lost 9 and 4 percentage points, respectively.

ARD "Germany trend": Lauterbach remains the most popular minister - Merz is increasing

Health Minister Karl Lauterbach is still at the top of the politicians' satisfaction scale: with 59 percent popular favor, he also lost 7 points.

The new CDU leader Friedrich Merz, on the other hand, gained 5 points.

He now receives 37 percent approval of the respondents.

(yeah)

1,339 eligible voters were surveyed between January 31 and February 2.

The error rate is 2 to 3 percentage points.
