Khemmarin Hassiri, commander in charge of the foreign affairs service in the Royal Thai Police, said the Australian Embassy lodged a complaint against a man on January 6 and that an investigation is ongoing.

It has not yet been possible to establish since when the cameras were installed in the toilets.

According to Australian channel ABC, their presence was discovered by chance after an SD card from one of the cameras was found on the ground.

The incident is a serious flaw in the security system, an Australian defense and foreign policy expert told AFP.

If loopholes have allowed cameras to be installed anywhere in a protected location, it means that the security of the embassy is not ensured

,” said Hugh White, professor of strategic studies at the Australian National University.
