The United Nations announced that 24 of its peacekeepers and one of its civilian staff were killed in deliberate attacks last year.
The Associated Press quoted the “Standing Committee on the Security and Independence of International Civilian Organs” of the “United Nations Staff Union” as saying that “eight peacekeepers were killed in Togo, four from Chad, three from Ivory Coast, three from Egypt and one each from Rwanda, Burundi, Congo and Gabon.” Malawi and Morocco, and the civil servant is from Congo.
