Morocco had a hard time digesting today (Sunday) the death of the five-year-old boy, who was rescued lifeless from a well in the north of the country yesterday after four days in which the nation and the world held their souls.

Ryan Averam's body was evacuated to the eyes of hundreds of rescuers and curious people who had gathered at the site in the village of Tamrat, located in the hills near the city of Shepashwan.

The crews managed to reach Ryan last night after clearing most of the nearby hill soil, and slowly dug a horizontal passage into the well, whose opening width is only 45 cm, for fear of causing a

landslide that would crush Ryan below.

And in the documentation of a camera taken down to the well on Thursday, the boy was seen alive and conscious, and since then his condition has not been updated, and it is still unclear how he died.

Ryan's parents, who received a condolence call from King Muhammad, waited outside the tunnel in hopes that their son had managed to survive the cold days deep in the well.

Ryan's father said after his son's fall that he repaired the well at the time of the accident.

He told local media the day after tomorrow that his son fell into the shaft "as soon as I took my eyes off him".

"I did not sleep for a moment," he said.

The initial joy that erupted with Ryan's rescue from the well was soon replaced by great sadness, when it became clear that he was not alive.

His story fascinated the citizens of Morocco and many others in the world, and social networks were filled with eulogies.

One of the newspapers in Morocco wrote this morning "the death of the boy who reminded the whole world of the values of humanity" about the affair, while others lamented about the "tragic end" that brought with it "sadness and shock".

The date of the boy's funeral has not yet been announced, but according to Islam he should be buried near his death, so he may be buried today.

Another wrote that Ryan "united people around him."

Thousands were present yesterday at the well complex, which has become a kind of construction site, and applauded the forces that worked to finish the excavations in a race against the clock.

Volunteer digger Ali Sharwai, who cleared the last land in his hands, became a hero on social media.

Ryan's parents were seen walking towards the opening of the excavated tunnel to reach their son, and got into an ambulance with him without saying a word.

A few minutes later, the painful news was delivered from the palace that had crushed many in Morocco and around the world.

French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on Facebook: "Tonight, I want to tell the family of little Ryan and the citizens of Morocco that we share their pain."
