The African Union decided today to suspend the decision to grant the Israeli entity observer status in the union.
And the media quoted a source in the Algerian Foreign Ministry as saying that the African Union summit held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, decided to suspend this decision and to form a committee of seven heads of state to study the matter.
The source indicated that the federation decided to form a committee to study the issue, which includes the current president of the federation, Macky Sall, the Algerian president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, the Nigerian Muhammad Bukhari, and the president of Cameroon, Paul Biya.
Last July, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, agreed to grant the Israeli occupation entity an observer status in the 55-member body, which aroused the objection of many African countries, led by Algeria.
