Meretz ministers opposed the citizenship law, compared to new hope ministers who supported it.

Justice Minister Gideon Saar said at the meeting: "I was a government secretary when the arrangement was first introduced, after the GSS warned that we were paying a bloody price for terrorist attacks carried out by Palestinians who entered Israel in family reunifications.

Even the last time the issue came up, the GSS "clarified the vitality of continuing the existing arrangement."

He said, "As far as Israel's security is concerned, it is impossible to hold the stick from both ends. It would have been better if the government bill had been passed with the support of all coalition members.

The Minister of Communications, Yoaz Handel, said at the meeting that "the Citizenship Law preserves the Zionist interest. It passed for 18 years with the votes of right and left parties. Consensus. This law must pass to continue to preserve the character of the State of Israel. I call on government partners who are still undecided "It's in his favor to vote for it. It is in the common interest of us all."

GSS: "Urgence in enacting the Family Reunification Law"

As you may recall, Israel Today has learned that GSS chief Ronen Bar has forwarded an unusual appeal to Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, which highlights the urgency of enacting the Family Reunification Law. One of their parents was born in the territories - in the riots in the Negev two weeks ago.

According to the data, about 40% of those who were involved in the violent actions, such as throwing in the IDF, throwing stones and blocking axes, are descendants of "united families." Because members of united families are more violently involved than the general population in the diaspora.

According to Bar-Shaked's analysis, children and grandchildren of "united families" are less connected to the Israeli experience, and on the other hand more connected to the Palestinian narrative.

This background, combined with difficult socio-economic conditions, leads this population to over-involvement in riots.

The GSS is convinced of the security necessity of the Family Reunification Law, but the coalition parties Meretz and Ra'am refuse to support it.

Following the warning, the interior minister formulated a temporary transition procedure until the law was passed.

The examination of the applications will be done according to priorities in accordance with a set of considerations, and in particular security considerations
