His defense attorneys, Shadi Kabha and Sirin Issa, argued at the hearing that "unfortunately a media case."

According to them, the police rely on the "paranoia they produce" and think that by doing so they will be able to extend the detention.

"We do not live in Syria, where it is enough to say and a person has been arrested. We live in Israel," the lawyers said.

"The suspect was questioned at the police station, and gave a version according to which he did not stay at the scene at all," they added.

According to them, the investigators must check the cameras on Yes Planet, the place where the suspect claims to have been, so that they can find out that they are wrong.

The attorneys also added their own opinion as to the direction worthy of interrogation: "That lady, to whom we wish a speedy recovery, had an fiancée whom she parted from a few days ago. Is not he a direction to be interrogated?".

Judge Itai Regev noted that he had reviewed the investigation material, and that it emerged that there was a reasonable suspicion linking the brother to the offenses attributed to him.

Abu Laban will be brought before a judge again next Sunday,

Together with the brother, it was reported yesterday that another person was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the act, a 37-year-old man who was said to be Lemis' ex-husband, but he was released under house arrest not long after.

After the incident, it was reported that Saadi Abu Lavan, Lemis' 58-year-old father, heard the burst of gunfire aimed at his daughter.

"What happened was that she came home with the vehicle, and was standing in the parking lot with me in the yard. Usually when she came home I opened a curtain to see her, and just then I heard gunfire, a lot of shots," Saadi said.

"I went down the stairs of the house, went to the car and saw the windshield of the whole vehicle bullets and also in other places there was broken glass," he added.

"I went straight to my daughter. I asked her what her condition was, and she answered me in Arabic: 'Dad, forgive me.'"
