US warns: Tens of thousands will be killed if Russia invades Ukraine
Senior officials in the Biden administration painted a grim picture in a briefing before members of Congress, in which they estimated that Putin had already completed 70% of the preparations for a full invasion.
According to them, Kiev may fall within two days, and the human price will be particularly heavy and will cause a refugee crisis in Europe

The United States estimates that the Russian military has mobilized 70 percent of its forces to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which could result in the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, officials in the Biden administration said last night.
During six hours of closed-door meetings with lawmakers in the House of Representatives and Senate on Thursday, officials warned that if Mr. Putin chose his most aggressive option, he could quickly crown or occupy Kiev, the capital, and oust President-elect Vladimir Zlansky.
They also warned that the invasion could lead to a huge refugee crisis in Europe.

Senior officials stressed that intelligence sources had not come to the conclusion that Putin had made a final decision to invade.
However, satellite images from the region, talks within Russian forces and images of the transfer of Russian military equipment indicate that the Russian president is completing preparations for what may be the largest land military operation in Europe since the end of World War II in 1945.
They also warned of the heavy price of a full invasion.
It is estimated that between 25,000 and 50 civilians, 5,000 to 25,000 Ukrainian soldiers and 3,000 to ten thousand Russian soldiers may be killed.
The invasion, according to sources, could also cause a million to five million refugees, many of whom would flee to neighboring Poland.
Sources believe that if Putin decides to invade, it will not be before the second half of February.
Until then, more lands will freeze - making it easier to move vehicles and heavy equipment - and the Beijing Winter Olympics will end or be in its final stages and Putin will be able to avoid the expression of President Xi Jinping, one of his key allies he met with on Friday.
The gloomy briefings join other stern warnings issued by the Biden administration in recent weeks.
On Thursday, the administration also publicly warned that Russia was planning to launch a "false flag" operation to justify military action against Ukraine, possibly through false documentation of a staged attack on its forces or the Russian-speaking population in eastern Ukraine.
