Russian virologist Peter Chumakov, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, revealed that the Corona virus will become after the Omicron mutant more contagious, but in return, less dangerous.

Chumakov indicated in an interview with Radio Sputnik that the emerging coronavirus has developed in a certain direction and continues in this way.

And the Russian virologist added: “The Wuhan version of the emerging coronavirus was incomplete, so it was affecting people with weak immunity and the elderly in particular, but as a result of the many mutations, the virus became able to infect a wide layer of different ages.”

Chumakov pointed out that the main trend in the development of the virus was the expansion of its coverage, which made it spread among people of different ages, adding: "The development of the emerging coronavirus led to the emergence of a rapidly spreading omicron mutant capable of penetrating children's immunity as well, meaning that it is adapted to humans."

Chumakov indicated that the development of the new coronavirus will continue in the same direction, and during this process, its pathogenicity will be significantly reduced and cause great damage to the body, and the speed of its spread has increased now, and it is not excluded that it will increase in the future.

According to doctors, vaccination remains the most effective way to prevent the emerging coronavirus and its known variants, and although it does not provide 100 percent protection, it greatly reduces the consequences associated with the disease.
