Because the pandemic makes it impossible to hold a town meeting in person, Waakirchner town hall chief Norbert Kerkel has published his annual report online.

Waakirchen

– A real face-to-face town meeting: That is out of the question because of the pandemic.

Waakirchner Mayor Norbert Kerkel (FWG) has therefore published his annual report on the municipality's website, enriched with many photos.

He very much regrets that a face-to-face event could not be held, says Kerkel. In this way, however, he at least wants to give an overview.

The 2021 citizens' meeting for the 2020 reporting year can therefore be accessed online at www.waakirchen.de.

Construction of the fire station is the largest project

The most significant new building in the municipality was undoubtedly the new fire station in Waakirchen at the roundabout in Hauserdörfl.

The development of the extended Brunnenweg business park with Peter-Westermeier-Strasse is also one of the major projects.

But an inconspicuous investment also appears in the annual report: the municipality has equipped the homeless shelter at Schmied-Balthes-Straße 8 in Waakirchen with an additional wet room.

This is so that we can also take on women, as Kerkel explains.

Three men currently live there.

One resident, reports the mayor, has been quartered in the community building for years.

Two more were recently admitted.

Local bypass still under discussion

The Waakirchen bypass is high on the list of future projects.

It is laid down in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030, but is controversial among the population.

As reported, the municipal council will discuss the future course at its meeting on Tuesday (starting at 7 p.m. in the gym).

Also on the agenda is the expansion of a narrow section of the B 472 between the Waakirchner town entrance and the junction with Glückaufstrasse, which the Rosenheim State Building Authority is now pushing ahead with rapidly.

In addition, Kerkel wants to promote broadband expansion, flood protection and the planting of flowering meadows.

The report also includes an insight into the finances.

In 2020 the total budget was 21.2 million euros, in 2021 22.5 million euros were budgeted.

At the end of 2020, the debt level was 5.4 million euros, which corresponds to a per capita debt of 918 euros.

In 2019 it was 749 euros.

The number of residents is growing.

At the end of 2020, 5933 were registered in the town hall, in the previous year 5899. In contrast, the number of births fell slightly from 62 (2019) to 57 (2020).

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Tegernsee newsletter.
