After nearly two years of closed borders to tourists, Australian authorities today (Monday) announced the opening of the country to vaccinated tourists from around the world, after weeks of discussions and despite the outbreak of the omicron wave around the world.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said during a press conference: "If you are vaccinated, we look forward to having you back in our country. But we expect to see acceptable proof of immunization, this is the requirement and everyone must comply. Morrison noted that medical cases of critics who can not To get vaccinated will have to go through an exceptions committee.
Australia is one of the countries that has declared the strictest rules and has closed its borders in the most hermetic way since the outbreak of the plague.
Canberra's harsh measures managed to prevent a severe eruption in the country until the arrival of the Delta variant, which led to a severe eruption especially in the state of New South Wales, where Sydney's largest city is located, prompting local government to declare stricter Corona restrictions.

State of emergency in the Canadian capital
Authorities in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, declared a state of emergency yesterday after a large protest by truck drivers and citizens opposing the vaccine and corona restrictions completely blocked the city streets and severely disrupted routine in the city.
The protest, dubbed the "Convoy of Liberty," began as a protest by truck drivers in the North American country against a plan to oblige them to get vaccinated in order to continue their work.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has announced his intention to "take the city back" from the protesters and has authorized local police to make arrests and confiscate protesters' vehicles.
"It is clear that at this point the police are numerically inferior and we are losing the battle. The creators must be turned around and the city returned to full function," Mayor Watson said.
The protest in Canada also received backing from groups opposing corona restrictions in the United States and hundreds of American truck drivers came to the Canadian capital to join their local comrades.
Former United States President Donald Trump has also expressed support for the protesting drivers, saying that the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, is "a mad leftist who has destroyed Canada with crazy Corona laws."
