At the heart of the presidential campaign, the polls even show that the question of purchasing power is at the top of their concerns.
But the data also indicate that they do not have all the keys to precisely apprehend the subjects.
A situation that has small and big consequences…
Interest but little knowledge
Year after year, the figures confirm the lack of knowledge of the French in economics.
In 2016, an Allianz study placed France dead last among European countries in terms of financial culture - Austria and Germany being at the top of the ranking.
It showed that half of French people had mastered the mechanisms of inflation and interest rates, and only 9% the concepts relating to financial risks.
These results do not seem to be the result of a disaffection for the material.
