Greece has relaxed its entry rules for vaccinated people.
The country is doing the same as many other EU countries that are easing their corona measures.
Since February 7, vaccinated people
no longer have to present an additional negative PCR test
when entering Greece .
From now on, the EU vaccination certificate should be sufficient again, as Health Minister Thanos Plevris announced on Friday (February 4) according to the
editorial network Germany (RND)
on state television.
The Greek government is doing the same as many other EU countries that have relaxed their measures.
Anyone who has not been vaccinated still needs a negative PCR test (no more than 72 hours old) or a negative rapid antigen test (no more than 24 hours old).
Compulsory testing for vaccinated people was introduced in Greece on December 19 due to the Omicron variant.
Greece wants to start the travel season earlier than usual
At the same time, Greece is already preparing for the coming travel season.
Last year, Hellas was one of the most popular vacation spots - despite the corona pandemic.
The islands of Mykonos and Santorini welcomed even more tourists than in 2019. Air traffic also reached 86 percent of pre-corona levels in July and August.
For Greece, the travel year 2021 was, contrary to expectations, a complete success.
In order to build on this, the country is already preparing for
March 1st as the start
of the season, as the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias explained according to the
Stuttgarter Nachrichten
.
