The “jungle camp” used to be the TV highlight of the year for the audience.
But the ratings show that fewer and fewer viewers are tuned in to the trash show.
Cologne – Because of Corona, the popular trash TV show “I’m a star – get me out of here!” couldn’t take place on RTL* last year.
The joy was all the greater that nothing should stand in the way of the "jungle camp*" in 2022 - at least that's what people thought.
However, the ratings now show that interest in the show, which was filmed in South Africa this time*, has probably waned.
Jungle camp 2022: quota losers on TV – RTL loses more than a million viewers
Even before the start of the 15th season*, ex-RTL boss Helmut Thoma predicted little success for the broadcaster's former quota guarantor.
And in fact he was right about that.
Because according to the media
magazine dwdl.de
, the audience ratings were declining in contrast to the previous seasons.
Leaving aside the 2021 replacement show, the channel lost over a million viewers in the finale to the 2020 regular show.
At that time, 6.2 million viewers watched.
On Saturday evening (February 5), however, there were only 4.96 million people.
However, the downward trend has been noticeable for some time.
In 2019, over 6.3 million and in 2018 over 6.7 million people tuned in to the finale.
Jungle camp 2022: ratings are falling in the basement
Despite the lousy ratings of the final compared to previous seasons, RTL took the market lead among 14 to 49 year olds with its trash format with a market share of 34.4 percent.
However, this puts the station far behind its earlier successes.
The 2017 final reached almost 48 percent in the advertising-relevant target group.
After all, RTL achieved its second best value with the jungle finale after the start of the season.
However, the low ratings at the start must have been a shock, which RTL glossed over a day later.
