There is a warning of severe weather for the east and north of Germany until the evening: level 2 of the official weather warning applies from Bremen via Hamburg and Kiel to Erfurt and the foothills of the Alps.

The German Weather Service continues to warn of level 2 "distinctive weather" throughout northern and eastern Germany - from Bremen to Erfurt to the foothills of the Alps.

After a stormy weekend and a further turbulent start to the week, the weather should calm down towards the middle of the week.

Especially in the south of Germany it storms strongly.

The warning level two for stormy gusts also remains in the middle of the country, in the north the DWD even warns of a storm surge (

The peak of the storm is expected in the south on Monday night.

Then Deep Roxana brings showers and snow to large parts of Germany, and fresh snow is even possible at higher altitudes.

There are isolated thunderstorms, especially in the north and north-west, which will also move south in the course of the evening.

It has been just a week since the north was overrun by a tidal wave, and Hamburg was also under water.

At the beginning of the week, people on the North Sea coast have to brace themselves again for a possible storm surge.

According to a forecast by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) on Sunday, the water level there could rise about one and a half meters above that of normal high water on Monday morning.

In the Weser and Elbe area, it can rise up to two meters above it.

According to the DWD, the wind should pick up again on Monday night.

On the coast, gusts of wind up to force nine can be expected at times, a spokesman said.

The weather situation in Germany has worsened.

The DWD is now also warning of severe weather (orange warning level) in the regions around Hamburg and Bremen.

Heavy rain threatens there until 5 p.m.

The area around the Schleswig-Holstein port city of Husum has now also turned orange on the warning map.

Here, the DWD warns of severe gusts of wind until late in the afternoon.
