At the end of an undercover investigation, the Civil Administration arrested a robber and an antiques dealer in the Nablus area in the last day and confiscated thousands of rare finds valued at hundreds of thousands of shekels, including rare coins from the beginning of the country's coins.

As stated, following an investigation and intelligence follow-up with the Border Police in recent months, the Armed Forces Archeology Unit in the Civil Administration, in cooperation with the Coordination and Liaison Directorate in Nablus and accompanied by IDF forces, arrested a suspect in robbery and antiquities trading in the Nablus area.

As part of the arrest, thousands of coins and rare archeological finds, confiscated for various periods and valued at hundreds of thousands of shekels, were confiscated.

Among them, rare coins from the period of the Great Revolt and from the beginning of the appearance of coins in the country alongside finds from the Persian period.

The forces also confiscated equipment used by the suspect in the theft of the antiquities.

The antiquities dealer has been transferred for further investigation, the indictment against him will be formulated in the coming days and will be submitted to the military prosecutor's office.

The operation took place as part of an activity to preserve archeological finds and to eradicate the phenomenon of robbery of antiquities in Judea and Samaria, which is led by the KMT unit.

The head of the Civil Administration, Brigadier General Fares Atila, said: "The director promotes many moves, overt and covert, in order to preserve the archeology in Judea and Samaria. "Amputation of the chain of antiquities trade in Judea and Samaria. The director will continue to work tirelessly against the despicable phenomenon of destruction and theft at archeological sites and will protect the historical heritage assets in the area."
