The pastor and head of the Fahrenzhausen-Haimhausen parish association is shocked by the extent of the cases of abuse in the Catholic Church.

Haimhausen - "It is a miracle that people still believe in the church, trust the church, that they work in the church and try to live and proclaim the Good News to the best of their knowledge and belief," says Pastor Stefan Menzel.

The head of the Fahrenzhausen-Haimhausen parish association is also shocked by the extent of cases of abuse in the Catholic Church found in a recent report.

Menzel's statement

In the community's new newsletter (also available online at http://pv-fahrenzhausen-haimhausen.de), Menzel expresses himself in clear terms.

"The message of Jesus is greatly obscured by the many abuses and their cover-up, denial and suppression," writes Menzel.

"Failing popes, bishops and criminal clerics" does not represent the church as a whole, but it goes to the heart of the Christian community.

When a member of the Church commits a crime, it affects the other members as well.

Stephen Menzel

Menzel: "To be Catholic means to live in cross-connection, to be mentally and spiritually connected to one another.

When a member of the Church commits a crime, it affects the other members, when one member suffers, everyone suffers.”

Menzel appeals to the Catholic Church's sense of responsibility

If some “commit terrible crimes”, one cannot simply say that it is only a minority, “we, the many other clergymen and church employees who have done nothing wrong, have nothing to do with it”.

In addition, the Catholic Church has always seen itself as a "moral authority that even follows people into their bedrooms with their moral code".

That's why the church is falling all the more deeply, according to Menzel, who has headed the Fahrenzhausen-Haimhausen parish association since 2016.

Finally, in his remarks, Menzel thanks everyone "who is staying".
