People who are looking for advice about their financial problems should benefit from this innovation: the two debtor and insolvency advice centers in the district - supported by Caritas and Diakonie - have now joined together to form a consulting association.

District

– Representatives of Caritas and Diakonie in the district had already addressed the public together a few weeks ago.

At that time, in view of the increasing demand, they demanded that the district increase the number of employees in debtor and insolvency counseling (we reported).

Now Caritas and Diakonie are going together in the new advisory network initiated by the social welfare office of the district.

The goal of increasing the workforce should be pursued further, as Birgit Gutzeit, head of department at "Diakonie Herzogsägmühle", told the local newspaper.

The three parties - the Catholic Caritas, the Protestant Diakonie and the district - agree that the debtor and insolvency advice must be well staffed.

It is planned that the church organizations will apply for additional staff from the district, the cost bearer.

Exchange and support

However, advantages for those seeking advice should already result from the new network.

An example: The debt counseling service of the Diakonie in Schongau, which is responsible for the western part of the district, is not staffed because one employee is on vacation and the other is ill.

Then someone from the aforementioned catchment area seeking advice can now contact the Caritas contact point in Weilheim, for example if a deadline is about to expire.

This works in association, although the Caritas debt counseling normally only supplies the eastern part of the district.

The facility in the district town, like that in Schongau, is staffed by two people.

Cross-denominational association

Gutzeit also hopes that the two advice centers will exchange information on "specialist knowledge" in the future and support each other with tricky questions.

According to the head of department, anyone who now contacts the contact point of the Diakonie for an initial consultation will get an appointment in March.

Gutzeit is happy about the cross-denominational advisory network.

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.

This was initiated by Peter Steigenberger, head of the social welfare office at the Weilheim-Schongau district office.

Gutzeit and Thomas Koterba, managing director of the Caritas district association, responded positively to the head of department's suggestion.

This is how the new group came about at the beginning of the year.

Debt creeps into everyday life

"Especially in the currently very challenging times with inflation in almost all areas of life, one quickly reaches the limits of financial resilience and the debt problem creeps into everyday life," says a press release that provides information about the new cooperation.

"It's good to know that you can rely on a very competent and well-connected advisory service in the Weilheim-Schongau district."
