Municipality constituted in court. Lo Russo: "but Parliament will legislate" (ANSA)

(ANSA) - TURIN, 08 FEB - The Municipality of Turin appeared on appeal against the decision of the Court which denied the double surname to the son of two mothers, considering the request based on an administrative act deemed illegitimate.

This was announced by the mayor Stefano Lo Russo who relaunches the political question of the recognition of the children of same-parent couples.

"The legislating Parliament - he underlines - is not a civilized country to unload a right on the decisions of mayors and courts, this produces differences and discrimination. The regulatory framework is lagging behind society".

The hearing is set for February 18.

At the moment, in Turin, there are 79 children of same-parent couples registered in the registry.

The first, in 2018, was the son of the current councilor Chiara Foglietta.

"We do not at all share the approach that the courts are starting to give - adds Lo Russo - we claim with strength and determination the position of the city which is not only politically clear and clear but also from the point of view of administrative legitimacy" .

For the mayor "this is a country that is structurally lagging behind on important issues like this, there is a lazy Parliament on these issues and we urge it to legislate on the matter".
