For a long time, nothing was heard from the Greens in the Ebersberg district on the subject of the northern access to the Brenner.

Now a positioning takes place, at least in parts.

An analysis.

District

– For a long time, the district Greens have kept quiet when it comes to the northern approach to the Brenner Pass and new tracks through the south of the district.

Two green hearts are beating in their chests, which cannot easily be brought into the same rhythm: On the one hand, they want to protect the local nature from being eaten up.

On the other hand, it's about the big picture - the turnaround in traffic and saving the global climate.

In the wind power debate about the Ebersberg Forest, the Greens listened to their world savior heart and positioned themselves for wind power in the forest.

In the discussion about the northern access to the Brenner, the will of one governing party to make things right for as many people as possible can now be heard.

Green: Two new tracks for the burner feed must be

The Greens made a clear statement in a position paper published on Tuesday: "Even with technical upgrades, the two existing tracks from Grafing to Rosenheim and in the Inn Valley to Kiefersfelden are not sufficient to accommodate the additional rail traffic after the completion of the Brenner Base Tunnel." too little happened during rail expansion.

"The train is the form of electromobility that is already working on a large scale." Summary: Two new tracks are needed in the south of the district.

Demand of the Ebersberg District Greens: protect people and nature

When it comes to where and how, it gets expansive.

It should be "nature-friendly, space-saving, landscape-friendly and resident-friendly", explains the letter, signed by district parliamentary group leader Waltraud Gruber from Aßling and the district association board members Angelika Obermayr, former mayor of Grafing, and Christoph Lochmüller, former candidate for the Bundestag from Hohenlinden.

She accuses the railways that the route along the existing tracks has not been adequately checked.

Your from the point of view of the Greens "hasty" exclusion is not transparent for the citizens to understand.

For example, it is unclear whether a continuous top speed of 230 km/h is really needed on the braking and acceleration sections.

"We therefore want the existing road to be included in the detailed investigations," demanded the District Greens, also with a view to the recently presented public route by an engineer from Aßling.

It is about the "smallest intervention in our landscape, the preservation of our settlement structure and thus the maximum protection of people and nature".

The district politicians do not want to commit themselves to one variant.

"An underground route reduces the use of space," it says instead, without the letter directly calling for a tunnel solution.

"There must be no disadvantages for local transport," it also says.

"Noise protection according to the higher limit values of noise prevention" is needed for the existing line and on the "possible new line".

The Greens anticipate “painful interventions in the landscape” when the railway is expanded, but it will play a “decisive role” with regard to the climate goals.

It is important to involve the public in a transparent manner.
