But without questioning the credibility of Calcalist, the only way to shed light is to expose the evidence

We have reached the proof stage.

It can no longer be postponed.

As someone who supports, in principle, the establishment of a state commission of inquiry headed by a Supreme Court judge to examine an affair that can not even be given a proper name, it seems to me that the fog should first be dispelled.

When the Israeli police say "there was not" and the Calcalist newspaper says "yes there was", both sides need to anchor their versions with some evidence.

This is no ordinary event.

This is no longer journalistic news or another unnecessary denial.

We are dealing here with the holy of holies of Israeli democracy.

This square cannot be rounded and this corner cannot be shortened.

Until now, Calcalist has not presented a single piece of evidence for the shaky publication from yesterday, according to which the police infected dozens and possibly even hundreds of Israelis with the most malicious type of assault spyware.

Up to this point, the police also presented mostly nothing and nothing, and contrary to its version, it turned out that in one case there was indeed an exception - that of Shlomo Pilber.

Let it be clear: even if the whole event is a production of Bibi, or Noni, or both together, in collaboration with their learned lawyers, there is nothing wrong with that.

Even if all indications are that this is just a continuation of the campaign to achieve a disgraceful plea deal, it is irrelevant.

If the details published are indeed correct, it is an earthquake, it is an eclipse of luminaries, a state commission of inquiry is a matter of course.

When a journalist publishes a story he should not take into account the quality or character of the source nor his interests.

The only thing that needs to stand in front of the eyes of the journalist who signed the story is the truth.

If the story is true, it should be published.

Therefore, even if we are in an orchestrated, planned and organized production whose motives are the effort to cancel the trial or delay it or achieve a plea bargain, it does not detract from the importance of the findings themselves.

The only relevant question is whether the findings are correct or not.

The only way to do that, is to prove it.

Israel is a cyber power, one of the most powerful and sophisticated in the world.

Every beginning cyber expert knows that a mass infection incident with spyware of the "Pegasus" and "Saipan" type is a complex, complicated, extremely expensive matter and requires countless resources that the Israeli police are not even sure have.

According to all the experts, the police should not have a problem locating or tracing the use of the platform purchased for the purpose of illegal intrusions and gluing to such and other phones, everything exists and cannot be deleted from the manufacturer's log.

NSO have already expressed their willingness to clarify the matter within ten minutes.

The Calcalist environment, on the other hand, claims that there is an ability to delete or hide this evidence from the platform.

As stated by all the experts such a capability is not present and does not exist on any platform of this kind.

This controversy will need to be resolved for the sake of discovering the truth.

The police should not have a problem.

His version needs to be anchored.

Calcalist (Photo: Official Website, Calcalist)

There are no claims in the column for the "Calcalist" system.

I do not go into their considerations and do not mix with their sources.

They posted, they stand behind the story, I handed them many compliments for it.

Every Israeli patriot should pray that the story is not true because if it is true our decay is much more advanced than we thought, perhaps even irreversible.

And yet, for decisions to be made, for committees to be set up, for people who have spent decades of their lives in homeland security to continue to be crucified, evidence is needed.

That's how it always worked and that's the only way it can work.

There is no other way.
