Schongau

– The Löwenhof-Passage shines in new splendour: the paintings on display there come from the studios of six local artists who the jury had selected as part of the “alley beautification” project (we reported).

Now the pictures have been presented and the artists have been awarded.

Bertram Maria Keller, Olga Knor, Benjamin Oberhofer, Beatrice Amberg and the team Vincent Göhlich/Erwa One as well as Maximilian Welz/Lou Zeh can look forward to this freestyle and prize money of up to 500 euros.

Colorful variety instead of everyday sadness

The street beautification project: Walls, pillars, shop windows, panes – numerous areas in the passage that connects Marienplatz with Christophstrasse now shine in new splendour.

They are sprayed with bright colors.

Shrill motifs such as a 3D view of an alpine cow or weird comic-style mythical creatures catch the eye.

Street art in the best sense of the word: If you are looking for it and want to escape the dreariness of everyday life for a few minutes, then the Löwenhof-Passage is the right place for you.

Colourful, lively, creative: This is the painting by Benjamin Oberhofer.

It's a lucky day for ex-Greens councilor Janaina Subiabre Haseitl: "The result is wonderful, I'm happy," she said, shortly before she, together with Schongau's second mayor Daniela Puzzovio (SPD) and UWV city councilor Thomas Schleich, gave the red cut the tape in front of the passage and asked passers-by to inspect the objects as they pleased.

Building your own work of art in the middle of the city: A small group of Schongau city councilors and committed citizens called for this in late summer 2021 (we reported).

The aim was to revitalize the old town with colorful paintings.

Artists had until October 20 last year to submit their ideas for designing the windows, columns and walls.

They were judged by Subiabre Haseitl, Puzzovio, Patricia Erhardt, Markus Keller and Thomas Schleich.

The only blemishes are the garbage cans

The only blemishes are the still existing garbage cans.

Unfortunately, they could not have been accommodated anywhere else, Subiabre Haseitl sighs.

However, it is planned to buy a house for them.

The alley beautification team can also look forward to a blessing: Thanks to smaller and also very generous donations - the highest amounted to 2000 euros - after deduction of the costs for the competition there are still almost 1900 euros left.

A considerable amount, which will soon be used up, as Daniela Puzzovio noted.

Because the next projects to improve the streets in Schongau are already in the starting blocks.

The team has already eagerly collected ideas, revealed the deputy head of the town hall.
