Not a single charging station is available to e-car drivers in Hausham.

A representative of Energie Südbayern has now presented a concept to the municipal council.

Hausham

– As the hub of the district of Miesbach, the municipality of Hausham confidently markets itself.

When it comes to electromobility, however, the bike has not really gained momentum in the former mining community.

At least not as far as the necessary infrastructure is concerned.

Not a single public charging station is available in the geographic center of the district, reported Josef Lipp from Energie Südbayern (ESB) at his presentation to the Hausham municipal council.

And then showed how the municipality can make improvements when it comes to charging stations.

Before that, however, Mayor Jens Zangenfeind (FWG) pointed out that he did not see the solution to all problems in e-mobility.

“Where is all the electricity supposed to come from then?” asked the mayor.

For him, the future lies in a mix of drives with different renewable energies.

Nevertheless, as a municipality, one has to take into account the trend that more and more electric cars are on the streets and should therefore also offer charging options at central points.

Hausham would need 50 pillars to complete Free State objectives

At Lipp, Zangenfeind ran into open doors with this preface.

ESB actually comes from the gas business, so it is open to different technologies from its own history.

But it is also a fact that there is great momentum in terms of e-mobility.

"The cars are coming," said Lipp.

At the same time, politicians have set ambitious goals for the expansion of the charging infrastructure.

Converted to the number of inhabitants, this would mean a good 50 columns for Hausham.

However, ESB did not proceed quite so progressively when examining possible locations in the community.

Eleven made it onto the shortlist, five remained in the end: a quick charging station at Edeka on Obere Tiefenbachstraße (due to the short time spent shopping) and one normal charging station each at the town hall, at Alpengasthof Glück Auf, and at the Anton-Weilmaier school and at the Oberland cinema center.

The six eliminated places, on the other hand, either failed due to a lack of interest on the part of the property owner or due to insufficient grid connection, reported Lipp.

ESB offers “All Inclusive Package”.

But how did the pillars get to Hausham?

Lipp presented the municipal councils with an "all-inclusive package".

ESB actually takes care of everything: from planning and construction to payment processing, billing and maintenance.

The only condition: the municipality contributes to the acquisition costs.

"We share the sum that remains after deducting the 50 percent subsidy," explained Lipp.

"Are we really just the payers or do we also get a refund?" Georg Eham (non-party) wanted to know.

Not at first, Lipp replied.

The charging stations first have to run for two to three years before one can talk about economical operation.

However, ESB makes the monthly billing available to the municipality in order to create the greatest possible transparency.

"If e-mobility goes through the roof in Hausham, I'll be the first to contact you about a refund," Lipp promised with a smile.

If there is a corresponding demand, further columns will also be set up at the locations, with two cars per column being able to tap electricity at the same time.

The expert answered the mayor's question as to whether it made sense for the municipality to operate the charging stations itself with a resounding no.

And chamberlain Martin Reisberger waved him off with a laugh when Zangenfeind asked him whimsically whether he would like to become an electricity supplier.

After a few comments from the municipal council that the establishment of a charging network for e-cars was not the task of a municipality but rather of the federal government, the head of town hall made a compromise proposal: Public pillars would be used on their own property - town hall, alpine inn, school and P+R -Parking at the train station - think.

"We'll get in touch with you," said Zangenfeind to Lipp and promised that Hausham was quite willing to make his contribution to the energy transition.

"Although not with 50 charging stations straight away, but at least with more than zero."
