”, commented the president of the special assize court of Paris, Jean-Louis Périès, when the hearing resumed around 1:00 p.m.

He agreed to appear voluntarily because the use of public force against him was considered today (Tuesday): it was for him to avoid such a confrontation given that he would not have ignored his absence
" , told AFP one of his lawyers, Me Margaux Durand-Poincloux.
Osama Krayem had refused to take his place in the accused's box since November 25, originally to protest against the physical absence at the bar and the anonymization of several Belgian investigators called as witnesses.
The 29-year-old Swede appeared briefly on January 6, after the president threatened to use force to get him to appear in court.
But this had come to an end due to the Covid-19 positivity of the main accused, Salah Abdeslam.
Osama Krayem also appeared at the hearing on January 13 for his questioning on the facts, during which he exercised his right to silence.

I don't think anyone is here to try to figure out what happened and get answers.
I feel that we are all pretending and that this trial is an illusion
, ”the accused had justified in a letter to the court.

President Périès had made it known that he would request the appearance of the Swede during his future interrogations.
Osama Krayem, who joined Syria in 2014, is suspected of being one of the main protagonists of the jihadist cell behind the attacks that killed 130 people in Paris and Saint-Denis on November 13, 2015. The court of special assizes questions this Tuesday the Tunisian Sofien Ayari, 28, returned from Syria with Osama Krayem and companion of Salah Abdeslam in Belgium.
