The number of corona cases is reaching new highs every day.

Berlin/Frankfurt – Around a week before the upcoming Corona summit, the debate about possible easing in Germany is picking up speed.

The calls for an adjustment of the measures are getting louder, for example from Bavaria.

On Monday morning, Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder * initially called for easing, at noon he announced it: Among other things, 3G will soon apply to the hairdresser in the Free State and no more curfews in the catering trade.

The Bavarian Prime Minister also stated that Bavaria would not implement the compulsory corona vaccination planned for mid-March in the nursing and hospital sector.

Söder's advances were followed on Monday evening and Tuesday morning by demands from the Union to suspend the "partial vaccination requirement", as Söder called it, across the board.

According to Söder, this leads to "reverse problems" instead of being a solution.

Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach reacted to the news from Bavaria on Monday afternoon: "The Bavarian state government should take the law that has been passed seriously," said Lauterbach.

"Lax enforcement rules for institution-related vaccinations can not only endanger the lives of older people with weak immune systems," he explained.

They also jeopardize the credibility of politics.

Lauterbach had already spoken out about possible easing at the weekend.

Lauterbach also wants to comment on the subject at a press conference in Berlin on Tuesday morning.

From 10 a.m., the Federal Minister of Health and Lothar Wieler, head of the Robert Koch Institute, want to make a statement on the current corona situation in Germany.

Wieler himself is likely to comment on the allegations from parts of the traffic light coalition at the press conference.

The background is the decision of the RKI to shorten the convalescent status * in Germany.

The FDP sharply criticized it*, the Greens backed Wieler.
