Russia's Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko expressed today his country's hope to start production of its anti-Coronavirus (Sputnik V) vaccine in Egypt during the spring of this year.
In an interview with Sputnik, Borisenko explained that the technology transfer issues of the vaccine are almost over, while the Egyptian Minapharm company is producing trial batches of it, adding, "They will then be examined at the Gamalia Epidemiological Research Center, and we hope that regular production will start in the spring."
And Borisenko indicated that Minapharm first intends to meet the needs of the local market and then they can arrange deliveries to other African countries.
It is noteworthy that the (Sputnik V) vaccine, developed by the Russian Gamalya Research Center, is the first registered anti-Coronavirus vaccine in the world, and the Russian Fund for Direct Investments supervises its global marketing.
