The Tölzer AWO hopes that everything will go back to normal in the holiday home in Vorderriss this year.

In an interview, Chairwoman Camilla Plöckl talks about the current situation and the future.

Bad Tölz/Vorderriss –

The Tölz local association of workers' welfare (AWO) is going through a difficult time.

The Christmas market, an important source of income, was canceled for the second time in a row.

The second pillar, the holiday home in Vorderriss, can only be occupied to a limited extent and yields less money.

Larger events are also not possible.

The Tölzer Kurier spoke with the chairwoman Camilla Plöckl about the situation and the future prospects of the local association.

Ms. Plöckl, is the local association making ends meet financially despite the pandemic?

In principle, the situation is similar to that of the youth hostels: we have to nibble financially.

We can only be glad that we have sponsors who support us.

And we are glad that the state forests have waived the lease for one year - the state forests own the property on which the holiday home in Vorderriss is located.

There were also two bridging aids from the state.

If it hadn't existed, we would have had real problems.

We are currently checking whether we can get a third bridging aid.

Does the local association still have reserves?

Shortly before Corona began, we had nice new doors made in the holiday home - we didn't know that a pandemic was coming.

But there are still a few reserves.

How is the situation in the holiday home?

We are allowed to occupy the rooms, but only with ten people if they are older than 14 years.

Some groups have therefore canceled.

There are no school trips.

At the same time, the costs continue.

After all, a year ago we were not allowed to do anything.

We hope that our regular guests will remain loyal to us.

We need them and are eternally grateful to them.

Which groups rent the holiday home?

Youth groups come first, but also AWO senior groups.

Some of the people are already 90 years old, but they keep coming back.

Very funny.

The house is simply very popular and well-known because it is a self-catering house and because it is surrounded by nature.

38 people have space.

Everything is prepared and disinfected, people get a key - and then they can muddle.

There is a kitchen and refrigerators.

We are always in contact with the group leaders.

For example, if they come at 4 p.m., my sister-in-law drives to the Vorderriss and receives them.

Bad experiences with third-party rental for celebrations

Can the house also be rented for family celebrations?

It used to be possible, now we don't do it anymore.

We've had very bad experiences with it.

For example what happened?

There are people who made a fire back there.

Although the house rules expressly state that making fires is not permitted because the nature reserve has been expanded.

When fire is made, the Isarranger come along.

This is a sensitive subject.

But people can still barbecue.

We have a nice outdoor grill, but no more open fireplaces.

How often do you have problems with this?

There have been isolated cases.

There are always a few goofs, but 99 percent of the guests do really well.

We have a lot of home groups who absolutely love being able to get out there in nature.

The house is usually fully booked a year or two in advance.

It would be nice if everything went back to normal this year.

How hard was it for the AWO local association that the Tölzer Christkindlmarkt was canceled?

If we don't have any income there, it will be difficult for us.

We'll take care of the ticket sales.

Ten social institutions are attached to it – kindergartens and schools.

Something always comes in, what is left is poured out.

We were ready to start and were happy that it was finally starting again.

And then the Christmas market is canceled for the second time in a row.

Of course we understand the reason for the cancellation - it's a pity anyway.

Where did you store the unneeded profits - is the holiday home filled to the brim with it?

(laughs) No, the small prices go through the Tourist Info.

The girls are good at it.

The other prizes will only be claimed when we know for sure that the Christmas market will take place.

Apart from that, I canceled my participation in the Christmas market in good time.

After all, we have to buy all sorts of things.

For example, what do I do without a Christmas market with 400 liters of mulled wine?

What projects have you planned for the future?

We intend to offer a car service for older people.

But there are still many things to be clarified - for example, what about the driver's license.

In general, we have to think about how we can reposition ourselves.

For example, we could try to organize a small summer party.

Or we could try to bring in some money with small events.

But all this is not possible at the moment.

We would also like to do coffee trips again.

We already offer a mobile social assistance service for two people – there used to be more people.

What does the support service do?

There are many people who have no one.

You're wondering, "I have to go to the cemetery to plant some things.

What do I do now?” First they have to run around and buy things.

Then they have to haul the things home and make sure that the bus takes them down to the cemetery.

And then they have to plant the things and see how they come back home.

It would be nice if you could give people a little help.

You pack them up, take them to the shops with them, help them plant them and take them home again.

Actually not a big problem.

Many just need someone to talk to them for a bit.

Or they need someone to take them to the doctor.

Or someone who does little chores - put up a curtain or something.

Slowed down by Corona

Do you have any other plans?

I just went through all the paperwork from earlier.

It's really quite interesting what they did there.

They used to offer family camps, for example.

I have a very, very good board that supports me very well.

If you have a few people who have good ideas, then something will come of it.

What about recruiting members?

We will step up our membership work, Corona has totally slowed us down.

There was nothing we could do about it.

But whatever?

So we had time to collect ideas and prepare things.

As soon as it's allowed again, we can start at full speed.
