The Palestine Liberation Front and the Committee for the Defense of Palestinian Prisoners in the Prisons of the Zionist Occupation, in cooperation with the Sen Foundation for Culture, Publishing and Media, honored today a number of prisoners as part of an event titled “Prisoners Candles Lighting the Path to Liberation” at the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh.
The event included honoring 26 liberated prisoners from the prisons of the Zionist occupation and a documentary exhibition and a short documentary film about prisoners inside the prisons of the occupation.
The two released prisoners, Khaled Shahrour and Abdel Hamid Al-Shatli, expressed in a statement to SANA their appreciation for the initiatives concerned with the prisoners and honoring them, as they raise the morale of the prisoners in the occupation prisons and their families and enhance the culture of resistance.
The coordinator of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Syria, Ismael Al-Sindawi, stressed in his speech the need to continue supporting the prisoners and solidarity with them in light of the brutal practices and violations they are subjected to from the Zionist occupation, calling for action by all means to liberate them.
For his part, Chairman of the Committee to Support Released Prisoners and Syrian Detainees in Israeli Occupation Prisons, Ali Younis, indicated that holding such events comes as a fulfillment of the prisoners and their struggle and an expression of the sincerity of belonging to the central cause.
In turn, the Secretary of the Committee for the Defense of Palestinian Prisoners in the Prisons of the Zionist Occupation, Akram Obaid, noted the support of the forces and countries of the axis of resistance, led by Syria, with the Palestinian cause, calling on the prisoners to continue steadfastness and struggle to take all their rights, as the enemy only understands the language of force.
Head of the Palestinian Writers and Journalists Union branch, Tahsin al-Halabi, called for mobilizing the energies of the Palestinian people and factions and resistance in all forms, as it is the only way to liberate the prisoners and the land.
The director of the Sen Foundation for Culture, Publishing and Media, Ayham Saqr, pointed out that holding this event comes as part of the Foundation's project in appreciation of literary, cultural and militant statures.
The event was attended by the head of the Syrian Arab People's Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People and Resisting the Zionist Project, Dr. Saber Falhout, a number of leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions, Syrian and Palestinian national parties, and social and cultural events.
