Under water for minutes: woman sinks in Bavaria with a car and is in mortal danger

In Bavaria, a woman had to be resuscitated by rescue workers after she crashed her car into a rainwater retention basin.
The 36-year-old is in mortal danger.
Oerlenbach – A woman sank in the water with her car in Lower Franconia and was critically injured.
On the federal highway 286 near Oerlenbach (Bad Kissingen district*), the 36-year-old got off the road with her car and crashed into a rainwater retention basin, the police said on Tuesday.
The car rolled over several times on Monday and broke through the fence around the pool.

The 26-year-old passenger was able to free himself from the car, the police said.
By the time the first emergency services arrived, the car had already been completely submerged in rainwater.
"Two police officers then immediately went to the rainwater retention basin and tried in vain to free the driver from her car," it said.
The woman was reportedly under water for minutes and lost consciousness.
Eventually, firefighters pulled the fully submerged car out of the basin using a winch.
Rescue workers resuscitated the 36-year-old and took her and her passenger to the hospital.
According to the police, the 26-year-old was only slightly injured and the woman was in mortal danger.
The car involved in the accident was a total loss of around 2,000 euros.
The Bad Kissingen police inspection has taken over the investigation into the cause of the accident.
The main road was completely blocked for the accident recording.
The officials are now looking for a white vehicle to further clarify the course of the accident, which was driving in the direction of Oerlenbach immediately before the accident.
"The driver of this vehicle is asked to contact the Bad Kissingen police station on (09 71) / 71 49 0."
