Munich's health officer Beatrix Zurek is shooting against Prime Minister Markus Söder's plans to suspend compulsory vaccination in nursing professions.

Munich – The vaccination requirement* for staff in homes and clinics remains a bone of contention.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) announced on Monday (February 7) that they might be suspended *.

Similar words were heard from CDU leader Friedrich Merz.

Curious: Large parts of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group had approved the plans of the traffic light coalition at the end of last year.

Also in Munich* those responsible are irritated.

Munich's health officer Zurek: Politicians must take a stand on compulsory vaccination

"In my opinion, it would be a big mistake to suspend the vaccination requirement for nurses - without naming a specific period," said health officer Beatrix Zurek * on Tuesday (February 8).

Politicians must take a stand for compulsory vaccination, because only through them could Germany get out of this pandemic.

“And as a first step, this compulsory vaccination must be enforced in medical facilities and nursing homes.

This is about the highly vulnerable groups, for whom an illness with the corona virus can usually also mean severe courses and unfortunately often death.

This group of people should receive special protection.

With a vaccination requirement for nursing staff and the other staff in these areas, one assumes responsibility.

"It has been proven that the probability of transmission is greatly reduced in vaccinated and boosted people compared to unvaccinated people.

Even if the vaccination cannot always prevent an infection, it still protects against serious illnesses and prevents deaths in all variants that have been widespread in Germany to date.”

Munich: The number of unvaccinated nursing home employees drops to seven percent

In Munich, fewer and fewer employees from homes and clinics are unvaccinated, the health officer* continues.

"From December to January, the proportion of unvaccinated employees in the inpatient care facilities in Munich fell from 13 to seven percent.

This clearly shows that compulsory vaccination is the right way.”
