The ICAC earlier received a referral from the police for a corruption complaint and launched an investigation. During the investigation, it was revealed that 28-year-old police officer Su Jingfeng was suspected of illegal betting with a peripheral gambling operator. After seeking legal advice from the Department of Justice, he was charged with the crime.

The charge alleges that the defendant allegedly placed bets on a bookmaker between August 13 and October 27, 2021.

The ICAC investigation found that the defendant was suspected of betting on football matches and baccarat to the bettor on multiple occasions, and successively transferred more than 200 sums totaling more than 320,000 yuan to the bank account designated by the other party.
