Two former Cathay Pacific flight attendants were involved in unnecessary activities during medical surveillance after arriving in Hong Kong from the United States last year. One of them was involved in a lunch at Mochizuki Tower in Festival Walk, and both of them were diagnosed with the 2019 coronavirus disease Omicron variant virus strain.

They are charged with the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation, Cap. 599A, and the case will be heard at the Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (9th).

They do not need to answer for the time being. The defense said that it will take time to obtain the documents. The magistrate allowed the case to be adjourned to April 7 for retrial, during which the two were allowed to be released on bail of 5,000 yuan.

The two male defendants, Huang Yulong (45) and Liu Nuohong (44), both reported being unemployed.

They were charged with one count and two counts of "failure to comply with conditions specified by the health officer as a person subject to medical surveillance regulations".

The charge alleges that on December 25, 2021, Wong failed to comply with the conditions specified in the Medical Surveillance Notice issued by the Health Officer on 24 December 2021, namely self-isolation under the exemption conditions specified by the Chief Secretary for Administration.

On December 25 and 27, 2021, Liu Nuohong failed to comply with the conditions specified in the Medical Surveillance Notice of the Health Officer on the 25th of the same month, namely self-isolation according to the exemption conditions specified by the Chief Secretary for Administration.

Lawyers representing the two defendants said the case was adjourned due to the need to obtain documents and provide legal advice to the two defendants.

The magistrate then adjourned the case to April 7 for retrial, and granted the two defendants a bail of $5,000. During the period, they were required to hand over their travel documents, not to leave Hong Kong, or to contact prosecution witnesses.
