The reality of the growth of wheat and barley crops, grazing areas and natural pastures in Al-Hasakah governorate has witnessed a remarkable improvement resulting from the good amounts of rain and snowfall that the governorate has been subjected to recently, after the negative effects of rains at the beginning of the winter agricultural season and on the implementation of the established agricultural plan.

Bilal pointed out that the rains also contributed to the improvement of the growth of the irrigated areas of the two crops, as the growth phase of the irrigated plant was characterized by the growth of the stem and the first

and second leaves, pointing out that the reality of the growth of natural pastures and green areas is good and is in its infancy, and all cultivated areas will witness an additional improvement during the coming period.

The farmers of the province had finished planting their lands with wheat and barley crops for the winter season at the end of last month, bringing the final cultivated area to 569,000 hectares.

In Idlib, the areas planted with wheat and barley crops in the countryside liberated from the governorate amounted to more than 74 thousand hectares in rainfed and irrigated lands.

The designated director of Idlib Agriculture, Muhammad Nour Tako, told SANA that 18,575 hectares were cultivated with wheat, 14,700 hectares were in rainfed lands and 3875 hectares were in irrigated lands, while 55,907 hectares were cultivated with barley, mostly Baal, indicating that the places for planting the two crops are concentrated in areas liberated from terrorism in the countryside of the province. The southeast and the north, especially Sinjar, Abu Dahour, Tel El-Karam and Khan Sheikhoun.

Tako pointed out that the rate of implementation of the plan for the two crops this season is good after entering new areas and securing production requirements such as seeds, fertilizers and fuels, and abundant amounts of rain, noting that diesel fuel was distributed to farmers in addition to the distribution of fertilizers allocated to farmers.

A number of farmers indicated that the weather conditions during the current season and the good rainfall contributed to the increase in the areas planted with wheat and barley crops, despite the high cost of production requirements.
