It will be a while before the fifth corona vaccine approved in the EU will be available in the district.
The first "Novavax" delivery is not expected for a few weeks.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The Corona vaccine Novavax has recently been approved in the EU.
Since last week there has also been a recommendation from the Standing Vaccination Commission to use the vaccine in people over 18.
Many who are critical of vaccination with mRNA vaccines like Biontech's and have reservations about it could now opt for this protein-based vaccine.
County expects Novavax delivery in first week of March
However, it will still take some time in the district before Novavax doses are actually administered in the vaccination centers in Bad Tölz and Wolfratshausen.
"The first delivery will probably be in the first week of March," says district office spokeswoman Marlis Peischer on request.
Demand for vaccinations is currently stagnating
It is questionable whether many who are still undecided will decide to vaccinate.
"At the moment there is actually no demand for Novavax that is reaching us," says Peischer.
In general, the rush in the two vaccination centers is still manageable.
2,100 to 2,500 injections are given per week, including many booster vaccinations.
"Actually, 1,200 vaccinations per day would be possible," said the district office spokeswoman.

The vaccination rate in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen is still below average.
According to the district office on February 7, 64.1 percent are fully vaccinated. Nationwide it is 74.5 percent.
46.4 percent are now boosted in the district.
Contracts for the two vaccination centers run until the end of April
It is currently unclear how long the two locations will be maintained given the rather meager demand.
"The contracts currently run until April 30." According to Peischer, what happens after that has to be discussed.
Ultimately, however, it was “a political decision”.
