No good star accompanies the Geisenbrunn restaurant.

After the Zlunka family stopped running the business at the end of 2015 after almost four decades, first Harald Schwarz and then the couple Stjepan and Magdalena Madunic tried their luck.

Now, after almost two years, a successor is being sought again.

Gilching

– Stjepan and Magdalena Madunic stop running the Geisenbrunn restaurant.

Gilching's mayor Manfred Walter announced this news on Monday evening at the meeting of the municipal council's finance committee.

The reason for this was that the kitchen of the traditional restaurant, which is part of the community's property, had to be completely renovated according to official requirements.

Walter put the costs at around 300,000 euros.

He recommended putting the sum in the 2022 budget.

When and how the kitchen will be renovated is to be decided by the municipal council at its next meeting.

While Christian Winklmeier (SPD) suggested making a general decision about “what we want” before making such a large investment, and Dr.

Stefan Hartmann (FDP) warned against a hasty shot, Martin Fink (CSU) warned against possible considerations of closing the restaurant in general.

"The restaurant must remain, because without it all cultural life in Geisenbrunn would die." Fink recalled that in the early 1970s, Franz Seebauer from Geisenbrunn donated the 3,000 square meter area of the then still independent municipality of Argelsried, to which Geisenbrunn also belonged, free of charge of a clubhouse.

Walter now hopes that a modern kitchen that meets all legal requirements will also make it easier to find a new tenant.

The committee members unanimously decided to put the 300,000 euros in the budget.

When asked yesterday, Fink explained: “We were all very satisfied with the young couple who hosted us.

A lot had been planned.

It was also very engaging and very popular.

Unfortunately, despite the support of the community and the clubs, the two no longer had the strength to withstand the pandemic and the constantly changing conditions.

The Geisenbrunn restaurant is currently closed.

But it should reopen on February 28, emphasized Fink.

"So that the clubs and regular guests don't stand on the street, Stjepan and Magdalena Madunic would stay until a new tenant was found.

"Only when this has been determined will the transitional period be used to refurbish the kitchen," explained Fink.
