A representative of the Sudanese government visited Israel earlier this week, with the aim of promoting relations between the two countries, a source told Reuters today (Wednesday).
According to the source, the guest arrived as an envoy on behalf of the head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council and the head of the country's military government, General 'Abd al-Fatah al-Burhan.
At the bow of the Sudanese capital and Jerusalem have not yet officially commented on the visit and have not confirmed that it did take place.
The Sudanese envoy's visit comes amid an ongoing political crisis in the African country, which has begun talks on normalization with Israel in the past, and after the popular prime minister, Abdullah Hamduk, resigned following disagreements with ruler al-Burhan.
At least ten civilians were killed in demonstrations against the military regime over the past week, demanding the formation of a civilian government and allowing elections with the participation of all political factions
Last month, the Al-Arabiya news network reported that an Israeli delegation taking off from Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, landed in Khartoum and met with al-Burhan.
The report did not say what the issues were in the conversation, but it is possible that they dealt with the continuation of the normalization process with Israel, security coordination and economic assistance to the poor country.
