Daniel Hartwich leaves the RTL jungle camp.

Now the murderer himself commented on the reason.

Update from February 8, 5:18 p.m

.: Now the broadcaster itself has also confirmed what everyone had already suspected: Daniel Hartwich is leaving the jungle camp as a moderator.

A Twitter statement reads: "Daniel Hartwich is retiring as a moderator at IBES".

The 43-year-old continues in the RTL interview: "The reason for this is purely private.

It was always clear to me that I would only host the show as long as my family could accompany me to the shooting.

Due to compulsory schooling, this is no longer possible, so I'm giving up the moderation.

It's not easy for me, but it's more important to me not to be separated from my wife and children for weeks."

And further: "I would like to thank all the great colleagues who make this show the extraordinary spectacle it is every year.

It has been my pleasure and honor to work with such talented television makers.

Thanks also go to the Australian and South African crews.

Sonja Zietlow sad about the farewell to Daniel Hartwich

Colleague Sonja Zietlow also has her say on RTL *: "I can absolutely understand his decision, even if I personally think it's a shame, of course.

In the last nine years we have experienced and lived through a lot together.

We laughed a lot and experienced and created unique moments.

That will always be part of my life.”

Based on the already hotly debated rumors about Daniel Hartwich's successor, the broadcaster also adds on Twitter: "We will announce who will succeed him in good time." Markus Küttner only added: "As far as his successor in the jungle is concerned, we have initial, very good discussions have already taken place.”

Fans sad about moderators off

The fans are sad about the moderator's final end and thank him for his commitment to "I'm a star – get me out of here!".

For example, under the Twitter hashtag #Thank youDaniel, one user wrote: "Thank you Daniel for 9 wonderful years 'I'm a star, get me out of here'".

RTL also shares the tweet on its channel.

Cologne – the viewers had already guessed it, the Twitter community was screaming from the roofs, now it seems to be getting safer and safer: Daniel Hartwich * leaves the jungle camp.

An official confirmation from RTL or Hartwich is still pending.

The 43-year-old is now part of the "I'm a star – get me out of here!" show, and he has been in front of the camera with Sonja Zietlow in the moderator duo since 2013.

Zietlow has been there even longer, she has been moderating since the beginning of the show.

She used to moderate alongside Dirk Bach, who died unexpectedly in 2012.

Since then, Daniel Hartwich has been her counterpart.

Announcing that the show has been moved to prime time on Thursdays at 8:15 p.m., he quipped: "What's next?

Successor already found?

But that's not all: a successor should also be in the starting blocks: Chris Tall should be the moderator in the future, the Bild newspaper wants to know.

He is "at the top of the list in favor of TV makers".

A query from the newspaper has so far received no response.

Another change is already certain for 2023: the broadcaster wants to film the celebrities again in Australia in the next season*.

After the big reunion of the candidates, who have since found their South African jungle king in Filip Pavlovic, there will be the big aftermath of "I'm a star - get me out of here!" on February 20th at 8:15 p.m.
