The results of the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens 150th Anniversary Photography and Short Film Creation Competition have been announced. Contestants share their discoveries in nature through images.

Winner of Photography Category: Xiong Zhaohua - Noon at Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens

The photography and short film creation competition received up to 500 entries (photographs and short films), which were selected by three judges: Ms. Ruan Siuqin, representative of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, President Wong Wai-yee, representative of the Photographic Society of Hong Kong, and Mr. Liu Zengzhi, representative of "Hong Kong 01".

Among them, there are parent-child travel diaries that record warm moments, scenes that capture the vitality of animal dwellings, and self-created music videos with the theme of "Symbiosis in the City", which makes people marvel at the precious memories the park has left for everyone over the years. At the same time, this oasis can make urban people live easier and happier.

Ms. Ruan Siu-qin, representative of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department

The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Garden is not only a landmark, but also a collective memory of many Hong Kong people.

Ms. Ruan Xiaoqin recalled that when she was a child, every Sunday, she would spend an entire afternoon in the park, starting from the children's playground on Robinson Road, walking through the aviary, then to the pool, and through the time tunnel to the animal cage. One circle, and finally leave in the direction of Caine Road.

And every time she walked through the time tunnel, she was always very excited.

"At that time, Jaguar Xiaohua was at the entrance of the tunnel, and she could feel her scent when walking through the tunnel. Now her home has become an education and exhibition center, and Xiaohua has also been made into specimens to accompany Hong Kong people."

The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens combine nature and culture, inherit historical buildings, and actively develop animal and plant conservation.

This competition provides citizens with an opportunity to appreciate the park from multiple perspectives, and explore different aspects of the park from the works.

President of the Hong Kong Photographic Society Huang Weiyi

As the oldest park in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens has undergone many changes over the years.

President Huang often visited the park with his classmates when he was a student. He shared that at that time, the park had a beautiful landscape and could overlook the Kowloon Peninsula. With the development of business, the park became a back garden in the busy city and continued to accompany the growth of Hong Kong people.

"Hong Kong people are so busy with work that they tend to neglect their physical and mental health. This competition awakens the feelings of Hong Kong people and encourages everyone to revisit this urban oasis to enjoy the healing power of nature."

"Hong Kong 01" representative Mr. Liu Zengzhi

I believe that many people have tried to take pictures while riding on the stone lion in front of the memorial archway.

But as he got older, his visits to the park dwindled.

It is the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the park, and this competition encourages everyone to visit the park from an alternative perspective. It is a good opportunity to revisit the old place and create more unforgettable memories.

The list of winners and their works have been displayed in detail on the website of the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, and will be broadcast in the exhibition area in the form of videos. Those who are interested, please visit (https://bit.ly/3o4IJaR).
