TotalEnergies will offer a “cheque for 100 euros” to precarious customers of its gas offer

2022-02-09T07:28:34.656Z

Reductions will also be applied in "rural" petrol stations, in the face of rising energy prices. TotalEnergies is following in the footsteps of mass distribution, which is multiplying operations "at cost price".

TotalEnergies has, in turn, announced a gesture for purchasing power.

Invited to the microphone of RTL, the CEO of the group, Patrick Pouyanné, indicated that the customers of its gas offer "

in energy poverty

" could soon benefit from a "

check

" for 100 euros to cushion the rise in energy prices. .

The company is directly inspired by the “

inflation check

” proposed at the end of last year by the government for people earning less than 2000 euros per month.

According to Patrick Pouyanné, 200,000 people will be affected.

In addition, the CEO of TotalEnergies indicated that reductions would be applied to the price of gasoline, up to 0.10 euros per liter.

But this reduction will apply only in the stations of the group which are located in rural communes, “

that is to say communes of less than 6000 inhabitants, and in the stations located on the roads which connect them

”.

This measure will apply from Monday February 14 and will mean, concretely, that a reduction of 5 euros will be applied on a full 50 liters.

Distributor operations

This Tuesday, February 8, questioned on France Inter, Bruno Le Maire had indicated that he was waiting for “

proposals

” from the oil sector to relieve the finances of the French, while EDF has already been called upon to reduce the electricity bill.

But with these proposals, TotalEnergies is also following in the footsteps of some of its competitors, namely the gas stations of large retail chains.

Intermarché and Leclerc have multiplied in recent weeks the “

gasoline at cost

” operations, which had already been carried out last October.

Casino for its part offered gasoline “

at 1 euro

” per liter, via a refund of the difference in the form of vouchers.

These marketing operations are part of a context of record increases in gasoline prices, according to data published by the Ministry of Ecological Transition on Monday.

In detail, the liter of diesel reached 1.6854 euro, while the liter of SP95 costs 1.7654 euro.

The liter of SP98 is established at 1.8210 euro.
