Berg im Gau – A fire broke out in a single-family house in Berg im Gau (Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district) on Wednesday evening (February 9).

One person could only be recovered dead, the police said on Thursday.

According to this, residents reported a fire in a residential building on Zeller Straße at 10:13 p.m.

Police and firefighters arrived there a short time later.

According to the police report, they could see a person in a room on the ground floor.

Fire in Bavaria: fire brigade cannot help person in burning house

Due to the fire, however, the rescue workers were no longer able to enter the house at the time.

Therefore, after the fire was extinguished, the person could only be recovered dead.

The body has not yet been identified because it was burned beyond recognition.

The police are hoping for more information on the identity in the course of an autopsy and through further investigations.

Cause of fire unknown: police investigating

The bedroom on the first floor of the family home was badly damaged, according to the police.

The rest of the house was also badly affected.

According to initial estimates, the resulting property damage is at least in the six-digit range.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Ingolstadt criminal police have started the investigation.
