As part of a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police, four Israeli citizens, residents of Segev Shalom, were arrested for questioning today (Thursday) on suspicion of being involved in the incident of a car burglary by Eretz journalist Nati Yefet last January.
The four suspects, Mahran Abu Adra, Bilal Abu Adra, Kerem Al-Qadi and Ismail Al-Qadi, aged 19-18, are the detainees.
Mahran, Balal and Karem are natives of the country whose one parent received his status in Israel as part of the Ahmash proceedings.
The findings of the investigation revealed that as part of the incident, the four were involved in the assault, theft of personal belongings from the vehicle and later in its arson, after realizing that the owner of the vehicle was a Jew.
The investigation further revealed that the four even participated in incidents of further violent riots in Segev Shalom in the days prior to their arrest.
As part of this, Molotov cocktails were thrown at the Segev Shalom police station to set it on fire, stones were thrown at police forces, tires were set on fire and the Segev Shalom access road was blocked.
Some even participated in the violent riots that took place in the Negev in May 2021.
Upon completion of the investigation by the Shin Bet and the police, a case was transferred to the Southern District Attorney's Office, which is expected to file serious indictments against them in the Beer Sheva District Court.
The General Security Service and the Israel Police stated: "We take very seriously any involvement of Israeli citizens in terrorist activities, and will continue to work to bring to justice those who work to harm the security of the state's citizens and security forces."
