For weeks, the seven-day incidence of new corona infections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania only showed one trend: upwards.
On Thursday, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs reported a decline for the first time.
At the same time, however, the hospitalization incidence exceeded the threshold of 9 for the first time.
Rostock – The seven-day incidence fell from 1413.4 on Wednesday to 1406.9 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.
A week ago it was 1211.9.
In Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, the numbers have been falling for some time.
For all of Germany, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported a seven-day incidence of 1465.4 on Thursday.
The office reported 3,776 new infections found in the northeast - after 4,722 on Wednesday and 3,859 a week ago.
In the country's hospitals, 380 patients were treated with Corona on Thursday, 13 more than the day before.
There were 78 patients in the intensive care units, 3 fewer than the day before.
Four more people died from or with the virus, bringing the total death toll to 1,686.
The hospitalization incidence, which is important for protective measures - i.e. the number of patients admitted to hospitals with corona infection per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days - rose to 9.2.
It has thus exceeded the threshold of 9 again for the first time.
If this remains the case for three days at a time, swimming pools and indoor playgrounds, for example, would have to close nationwide, as a spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Schwerin said.

The vaccination rate in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has hardly increased for days.
According to the RKI, the rate of those who were vaccinated at least once was 73.9 percent on Thursday.
73.1 percent had full basic protection after usually two injections, and 53.1 percent have now received a booster vaccination.
The values are below the national average.
