Markus Söder and compulsory vaccination: Nobody can be the father of the cautious and the patron saint of the unvaccinated at the same time, comments Christian Deutschländer.
Munich - In asylum policy, the CSU has had the traumatic experience of losing two sides with a swing.
The extremely harsh criticism of Merkel from 2015 ("rule of injustice") frightened part of their own base.
The about-face was so exaggerated, including throwing in the dust in front of Merkel, that the other part of the base flinched in irritation.
Markus Söder should remember these mistakes – his own and those of his party friend Seehofer, who is closely related to him.
He is currently in danger of repeating it with Corona.
Corona in Bavaria: Söder's new course for easing is correct
His new course for easing is correct.
It's spot on even for Bayern if it coincides with the expected breaking of the omicron wave.
That's smarter than constantly putting off the unnerved people to Easter, Pentecost or the never-ending day.
In the momentum of the rotation, Söder has now also seriously damaged the obligation to vaccinate in care.
He may not have meant it in such an absolute way, but not only those who want to misunderstand him on principle heard it: Bayern is dropping compulsory vaccination.
Söder's attempt to narrow the gaps in corona politics is honest.
But be careful: no one can be the father of the cautious and the patron saint of the unvaccinated at the same time.
