Rows of garbage cans have been mysteriously disappearing in Puchheim lately.

Most prominent victim: the mayor.

It is now clear where the bins end up.

The owners are to blame for the loss, says the disposal company.

Puchheim – Suddenly the bin was gone.

Gabriele Kwoka-Blödt initially thought it was a rascal prank and went looking in the neighborhood.

But her garbage can was swallowed up by the ground.

So the Puchheimer did what many people do these days when they don't know what to do.

She posted an appeal on Facebook - asking for information about the whereabouts of her bin.

And then there was that too – albeit differently than the Puchheim resident had imagined.

Bin no longer properly

A number of people from Puchheim who had experienced the same thing replied to their post.

Some even knew about the fate of their garbage can.

They had a note from Remondis in their mailbox.

The company is responsible for collecting residual waste in Puchheim.

The notification informed the recipients that their bin was no longer in a "proper condition".

“So your container fell into the truck and was pressed.

Please provide an appropriate replacement, ”says the wording.

It dawned on Gabriele Kwoka-Blödt that her bin was no longer quite as it should be.

However, she did not have a clue in her mailbox.

She's got a lot of anger in her stomach now.

"I think that's a bottomless cheek," says the Puchheimerin.

Fear is already rampant on her street.

Older neighbors in particular would worry that their bin could soon be the next one.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.

Detlef Arzt sees it that way too.

Gröbenzeller rents a house in Puchheim.

And there, too, the garbage truck had eaten the bin.

Doctor had a note in the mailbox.

However, he finds it surprising that this happens so often that the workers already have pre-printed slips of paper with them.

What is also strange for him is the fact that all those affected report that only bins without wheels disappear – which of course are more difficult to move for the garbage disposal.

Like many other people affected, Detlef Arzt had the thought that the bins without rollers might not be accidentally swallowed up by the garbage truck.

With their loss, Detlef Arzt and Gabriele Kwoka-Blödt are in good company.

Mayor Norbert Seidl also had to buy a new bin.

He was not informed about the whereabouts of his copy, which was also without a roll.

The head of the town hall does not want to join speculation that the containers are not disappearing by accident.

But he too would have wished for at least one letter.

Classic fatigue

The excitement in Puchheim at the responsible disposal company Remondis cannot be understood.

The reason for the decline is the age of the round barrels, explains spokesman Michael Schneider.

These have not been offered for around ten years.

Therefore, they are at least as old – or older.

"The problem with ring containers that are getting on in years is that the hooks on the ring container can tear during the pouring process due to wear and tear." So it's a classic case of material fatigue.

As a result, the bins would fall into the truck and be compressed with the garbage.

Citizens have to pay themselves

The district's waste management company (AWB) is also familiar with the problem of bins that become waste themselves.

The district is one of the last in Bavaria where old round bins are still tolerated, explains AWB boss Stefan Mayer.

And now they are coming to the end of their lives.

Incidentally, the fact that those affected have to dig into their own pockets to get a new bin is due to another unique selling point.

While most districts provide the bins, in Fürstenfeldbruck they are owned by the residents.

That is a political decision.

But Mayer understands those affected.

"Of course it's annoying for the citizens."

Gabriele Kwoka-Blödt can tell you a thing or two about that.

She now has a new barrel.

Her husband fetched them from Remondis, where the containers are conveniently sold.
