Damascus-SANA

Despite the many definitions of the art of the novel, its philosophy and its complexities, the novelist Safwan Ibrahim still sees it as a written tale very simply.

Ibrahim, the young novelist who won the State Incentive Award, explained in an interview with SANA that this tale is trying to make it a lamp to illuminate for its reader vague aspects of life and human behavior, and he strives to make its essence a message and thus to take from it an example that benefits its reader in every time and place.

The function of the novel, according to Ibrahim, is to establish broad social and human relations, with the hopes, dreams and wishes it transmits, and the new elements it creates for life. Reality transmitted directly or indirectly.

Ibrahim pointed out that his novel, “Wills from the Hospital of the Insane,” which won the Hanna Mina Prize for Novel, is one of the most expensive works and he loved it to his heart, not because it won an award or because it has the right to turn into a film or television work, but rather because he feels that he left an imprint in the fictional art and that it chronicled a new stage in the novel.

And this novel fell into Ibrahim’s memory because he started writing it when he and his comrades in the Syrian Arab Army were confronting terrorist organizations at the Kuwais military airport that had tried for years to attack this region.

Ibrahim says: “I deliberately tried to provide the novel with human feelings and with a lot of knowledge about mental and irrational madness, so that the reader would be comfortable with differentiating between them.

Regarding our novelists keeping pace with the terrorist war, Ibrahim finds that the Syrian novel has advanced and developed a lot more than it was before the war, as in its years the writer’s mind has turned into a wide fiction field, which opened wide horizons for the novel, and this is what made it increase in value, richness, beauty, artistic and brilliance, and achieve solidity among its sisters of literary genres. other.

Ibrahim expresses his belief that the Syrian novel has not failed to convey the sufferings of the Syrians, as it has produced nearly 400 novels so far, and this is not a small number. Suri is a painful story and a story that is perhaps more painful than all that we have written as novelists.

Ibrahim refuses to be an elitist writer, as he writes for people and for them. He does not care about the written atmosphere that some writers talk about, and does not care much about the styles of fictional technique. He may write on the street, on public transportation, or in front of the window of an oven. The fame of the name does not concern him as much as the fame of the content. or secured.

Ibrahim dedicates the three prizes he won to the soul of his brother, the martyr Hayyan Ibrahim, and to the souls of all the martyrs, without whom a Syrian civilization would not remain on this land that innovates all of humanity.
