More and more MPs want to vote no confidence in Boris Johnson.
The PM is preparing his defense against a possible penalty.
Boris Johnson is under investigation as part of the Party Gate investigation.
He faces a vote of no confidence, especially if a penalty is imposed on him in the course of the investigation.
According to the British media, the British prime minister is not considering resigning on his own.
London – Speculations about an imminent vote of no confidence in British Prime Minister Boris Johnson* are increasing on Friday.
In the "Party-Gate" affair, the committee responsible for a no-confidence vote is said to have already received 45 letters.
This is said to have been said by Tory Party officials close to the Prime Minister*, Britain's
Financial Times
reports.
When 54 Conservative MPs vote no confidence in Johnson, there is a vote of no confidence.
And another step could bring the vote of no confidence closer.
According to the dpa
, allies of the prime minister assume
that a vote of no confidence in Johnson would be “inevitable” if a fine is imposed on Johnson.
Whether this is the case must be determined by the investigations currently underway against the Prime Minister for involvement in the lockdown parties.
According to the police, questionnaires were sent to around 50 participants in the Downing Street parties.
Johnson is also said to have received one of the questionnaires.
Boris Johnson: Will the British Prime Minister resign of his own accord?
Would Boris Johnson resign if fined?
No - he would "fight to the bitter end," the
Financial Times
quotes one of his allies as saying.
And the prime minister has not yet publicly stated what he will do if he is actually punished.
Boris Johnson and the Party Gate affair: When will the investigation be completed?
Insiders don't expect Scotland Yard to complete their investigation until early March.
It was initially unclear whether the outgoing London police chief Cressida Dick will still be responsible.
Police and government assured on Friday that the investigation was not affected by the change in personnel.
London's chief of police resigned on Friday in the wake of several scandals.
Boris Johnson: How is the Prime Minister preparing for questioning?
According to the British
Times
, the prime minister has already committed himself to a defense strategy.
Accordingly, Johnson is said to be planning to privately hire a lawyer who specializes in corona rules.
His defense should therefore be based on the fact that number 10 Downing Street is not only a workplace but also the prime minister's residence.
Many of the Corona rules during the lockdowns at the time said that you were not allowed to leave your home without a good reason.
