The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research put the Martyr Basil al-Assad stadium and gymnasiums at the University of Aleppo into service after rehabilitating them with a value exceeding 400 million Syrian pounds.

Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said during his review of the restoration work carried out in the stadium that it can accommodate about 600 chairs for the establishment of scientific, cultural, artistic and recreational activities, indicating that the gyms prepared for body building, tennis, billiards and chess that were equipped are for university students to practice their hobbies.

In turn, Dareen Suleiman, President of the National Union of Syrian Students, pointed out the importance of these facilities, which come within the plans and work of the union, to be a tool for developing students' skills and a space in which to practice their hobbies, pointing to the continuous cooperation with the Ministry to include all Syrian universities.

During the celebration of the opening of the stadium, which witnessed a student crowd organized by the Aleppo University branch of the National Union of Syrian Students, Dr. Maher Karman, President of Aleppo University, pointed out the importance of these facilities in serving students and contributing to the development of their hobbies and cultural, sports and recreational activities.

Yasser Gawish, head of the Aleppo University branch of the National Union of Syrian Students, pointed out that the rehabilitation of Al-Basel Stadium and the neighboring gymnasiums is the result of cooperation with Aleppo University.

The ceremony included the screening of a short film on the scientific, cultural, social and sports activities implemented by the Aleppo University branch of the National Union of Syrian Students, as well as artistic and lyrical segments.

The Minister of Higher Education was also briefed on the medical services provided by the University Hospital at the University of Aleppo to patients and auditors in the surgical and internal ambulance departments, children, radiology and magnetic resonance, and met with medical staff and listened to their demands, which focused on the need to secure the supplies of the emergency departments and dialysis from medical materials and to secure a linear accelerator device for cancer patients and to provide Liquid oxygen and compensation for the shortage of fuel and electricity, as the minister indicated that work will be done to address these demands.

Dr. Ibrahim Hadid, Secretary of the Aleppo University Branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, and a number of college deans and university professors participated in the opening of the stadium, gymnasiums, and tour.

On the other hand, the Minister of Higher Education participated in the ceremony honoring the first graduates of Cordoba Private University, which was organized by the university in the Artists Syndicate hall in Aleppo, where certificates were distributed to the outstanding students of the faculties of engineering, dentistry, technology, administrative sciences and languages.

In a speech, the minister indicated the importance of honoring distinguished scientific competencies in the seven public Syrian universities, and the 23 private universities.

Dr. Lara Qadid, President of the University of Cordoba, spoke about the university’s role in providing science and knowledge to students in the faculties of engineering, technology, architecture, dentistry, living languages, and administrative sciences, and honoring the top students with the aim of encouraging them, supplying the labor market, and contributing to the reconstruction of Syria.

The honoring ceremony was attended by the Secretary of the Aleppo Branch of the Party and the University of Aleppo for the Party and the President of the University.
